TEMPLE, TX — The Travis Science Academy 8th grade boys' basketball team faced a challenging road environment on Thursday night, falling to a disciplined Lake Belton squad with a final score of 58–21.
From the opening tip-off, Lake Belton utilized their home-court advantage, executing a high-pressure defense that made it difficult for the Mustangs to find an early rhythm. Despite the deficit, the Travis squad showed flashes of resilience, battling for loose balls and finding success at the rim during the second half.
Mustangs Top Performers
The Mustangs' offensive effort was led by Kason Harris-Jefferson, who fought through the Lake Belton defense to put up a team-high 9 points.
Travis Scoring Summary:
Kason Harris-Jefferson: 9 points
Jeremiah Kprazeon: 5 points
Zaden Jurca: 4 points
Hayden Whiteker: 2 points
While the scoreboard wasn't in their favor this time, the Mustangs showed heart until the final buzzer, using the closing minutes to sharpen their ball movement and offensive rotations.
Looking Ahead
The Mustangs won't have much time to dwell on the loss as they prepare for another road test next week. Travis Science Academy will travel to take on River Valley Middle School on Thursday, January 15.
Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 PM. Mustang fans are encouraged to make the trip and support the team as they hunt for a bounce-back victory.
