TEMPLE, TX — The Travis Science Academy Lady Mustang 8th Grade B basketball team faced a tough challenge on Thursday night, falling to River Valley Middle School by a score of 36-6 at the Mustang Gym.
Despite a relentless defensive effort from the Lady Mustangs, River Valley’s offensive consistency proved difficult to contain throughout the four quarters of play.

River Valley set the tone early, utilizing a stifling defense to shut out Travis in the first half. The Lady Mustangs struggled to find their rhythm early on, entering the locker room at halftime trailing 16-0.
The third quarter saw a spark of offensive momentum for Travis. The Lady Mustangs put up 6 points in the frame, finding gaps in the River Valley defense. However, the visitors mirrored that energy with their highest-scoring quarter of the night, adding 12 points to their total to maintain a commanding lead.

While the scoreboard favored the visitors, the Lady Mustangs continued to compete until the final buzzer.

The team showed great resilience during their third-quarter push, continuing to work for high-quality shots against a tall River Valley lineup.

Travis is scheduled to travel to Hewitt on Thursday, January 22, for a matchup against Midway Middle School. Tip-off for the 8th Grade B game is set for 5:30 PM.
