HEWITT – The Travis Science Academy 7th grade A Lady Mustangs faced a tough defensive challenge on Wednesday night, falling to Midway by a score of 31-11.

Despite a competitive opening frame, the Midway offense found its rhythm in the middle quarters to pull away from the Lady Mustangs.

Game Breakdown

The contest started as a defensive stalemate, with both teams struggling to find the bottom of the net. At the end of the first quarter, the score sat deadlocked at 2-2.
However, Midway began to create separation before halftime, outscoring Travis 8-2 in the second quarter to take a six-point lead into the locker room. The momentum stayed with the home team in the third, as Midway exploded for 13 points while holding the Lady Mustangs to just a single bucket.

Travis showed resilience in the fourth quarter, putting up their highest scoring output of the night with 4 points and limiting Midway to just a pair of free throws, but the deficit proved too large to overcome.

Stat Leaders

Kayla Deluze led the way for the Lady Mustang offense, accounting for the majority of the team's production with a hard-earned 8 points.

Kayla Deluze: 8 points
Lawrenn Granville: 2 points
Jasmine Gray: 1 point

Looking Ahead

The Lady Mustangs (7th Grade A) will look to bounce back and finish the regular season on a high note. They return to their home court on Monday, January 26, to host cross-town rival Bonham.

Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 PM, marking the final regular-season appearance for the squad before heading into postseason play.
