ACADEMY, TX – The Travis Science Academy Mustang 7th grade track and field team took to the oval at John Glover Stadium on Wednesday, March 4, putting up strong numbers against a competitive field at the Academy Bumblebee Relays.
While the meet featured a packed roster of young athletes, the Mustangs' top performers made sure Travis was well-represented on the leaderboards, particularly in the sprint and distance disciplines.
Performance Highlights
The standout individual performance of the day came from Lajavien Clark, who blazed through the 100-meter dash. Clark secured a podium finish, taking 3rd Place with an impressive time of 11.71 seconds.
In the distance events, Easton Williams proved to be a workhorse for the Mustangs. Williams showcased his endurance by placing in two separate grueling races. He earned 5th Place in the 2400-meter run with a time of 9:18.00 and returned to the track to take 8th Place in the 1600-meter run, clocking in at 5:51.30.
The Mustang relay teams also found success,
demonstrating smooth handoffs and consistent speed. The quartet of Darryl Luck, Jazavian Canady, Lajavien Clark, and Taran Sanders worked in tandem to secure 6th Place finishes in both the 4x100 relay (48.14) and the 4x200 relay (1:43.34).

The following athletes led the way for Travis Science Academy by placing in their respective events:
Lajavien Clark: 3rd Place in the 100 meters (11.71)
Easton Williams: 5th Place in the 2400 meters (9:18.00) and 8th Place in the 1600 meters (5:51.30)

Looking Ahead
The Mustangs won't have long to rest as they prepare for their next challenge. The team is scheduled to travel to Cameron, Texas, on March 11 to compete in the Cameron Invitational, where they look to build on this week's momentum and shave even more time off their personal bests.
