7th Grade Lady Mustangs Secure 3rd Place Finish; Advance Key Athletes to District Championships

TEMPLE, TX — The Travis Science Academy 7th Grade Lady Mustang Track & Field team made a strong statement on home turf this past Tuesday. Competing in the Temple School Cen-Tex Divisional Meet at Wildcat Stadium, the Lady Mustangs battled through a competitive field to earn a 3rd Place team finish with 83 points.

While North Belton (241 points) and Midway (153 points) took the top two spots, the Lady Mustangs successfully qualified several athletes for the upcoming Cen-Tex Middle School District Championships. By finishing in the top four of their respective events, these young athletes have earned a trip to Hewitt to compete against the best in the region.

Gold and Silver Highlights

The Lady Mustangs were led by standout performances in the hurdles and distance events. Norah Ice dominated the track in the 300-meter hurdles, capturing 1st Place with a time of 56.28.

Speedster Kaidence Brooks secured a 2nd Place finish in the 100-meter dash (13.88), while Adalae Haire showcased her endurance by taking 2nd Place in the 800-meter run (3:01.89) and 3rd Place in the 1600-meter run (6:59.53).

Field and Relay Success

In the field, Alianys Igartu-Vasquez proved to be a versatile powerhouse, securing two District qualifying spots by placing 4th in both the Discus (63’5) and the Shot Put (27’1 ½).

The Lady Mustangs' relay teams also rose to the occasion, with all three squads punching their tickets to District:

The 4x200 Relay team earned 3rd Place (2:03.72).
The 4x100 Relay team finished 4th Place (59.18).
The 4x400 Relay team finished 4th Place (5:15.95).

Looking Ahead to District

The Lady Mustangs will now prepare for the Cen-Tex Middle School District Championships on April 7th. The meet will be held at Panther Stadium on the campus of Midway High School in Hewitt. Field events are scheduled to begin at 4:00 PM, followed by the running finals at 6:00 PM.
