HEWITT, Texas – The future of Travis Science Academy track and field was on full display Tuesday at Panther Stadium. Competing against the "best of the best" at the Cen-Tex District Track & Field Championships, the 7th Grade Lady Mustangs battled their way to a 7th-place team finish in a field featuring the top qualifiers from across Central Texas.
The meet served as the high-stakes finale for the 2026 season, bringing together the top four finishers from last week’s divisional qualifiers. While River Valley took home the team title with 144.33 points and North Belton secured second with 129.66, Travis held their own against elite competition, tallying 39 points on the day.
Standing on the Podium: Top Performers
The Lady Mustangs saw several athletes step onto the podium, proving they belong among the elite tier of Central Texas middle school athletics.
Ashlyn Day led the charge in the sprints, capturing a 2nd Place silver medal in the 200 meters with a blistering time of 29.44.
Norah Ice showed incredible technique and endurance in the hurdles, securing 2nd Place in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 56.21.
In the field events, Alianys Igartua-Vasquez powered her way to a 3rd Place finish in the Shot Put, launching a distance of 68’2 ½.
The 4x100 Relay team, comprised of Ameriya Daniels, Kaidence Brooks, Jade Locklear, and Payton McClain, sprinted to a 3rd Place bronze medal finish with a combined time of 55.27.

"This meet was the culmination of a season’s worth of hard work," the coaching staff noted. Facing the top four qualifiers from each division is no small feat, and the Lady Mustangs rose to the challenge to close out the year with pride.
