HEWITT – The Travis Science Academy Mustang 8th Grade Track & Field team closed out their 2026 season on Tuesday, competing against the premier athletes of Central Texas at the Cen-Tex District Track & Field Championships.

Held at the historic Panther Stadium, this "best of the best" showdown featured only the top four finishers from last week’s Divisional Qualifiers. The Mustangs fought hard in a crowded field, finishing in 11th place overall with a team score of 14 points. North Belton secured the district title with 101 points, followed by Lake Belton in second with 86.

Podium Performance

The highlight of the evening for the Mustangs came from the explosive speed of Lajavien Clark. Competing in the 100-meter dash—widely considered the fastest event of the night—Clark blazed down the track to secure 3rd Place with a time of 11.96 seconds. His bronze-medal finish provided the bulk of the Mustangs' team points and solidified his status as one of the top sprinters in the region.

Top Point Scorers & Notable Finishes

While Clark took home the hardware, several other Mustangs pushed their limits against the stiffest competition of the year:

Easton Williams showcased his endurance in the 1600-meter run. In a tactical race, Williams crossed the finish line in 5:28.98, earning a respectable 5th Place finish.
The 4x100 Relay team, comprised of Darryl Luck, Taran Sanders, Christopher Weaver, and Lajavien Clark, took 6th Place with a swift time of 47.90 seconds.

The 4x200 Relay team, featuring Darryl Luck, Christopher Weaver, Taran Sanders, and Lajavien Clark, battled to an 8th Place finish, clocking in at 1:48.02.
