TEMPLE, TX — It was a night of firsts at Travis Mustang Field on Thursday evening, and the Travis Science Academy 8th Grade Lady Mustangs ensured it was a night to remember. In their season opener—and the first-ever soccer match played at their brand-new stadium—the Lady Mustangs galloped to a commanding 8-2 victory over the Bonham Middle School Lady Bulldogs.

The atmosphere was electric as the home crowd witnessed a relentless offensive clinic. From the opening whistle, Travis controlled the pace, utilizing the pristine new turf to showcase a passing game that Bonham struggled to contain.

Key Performers: The Asselin Show

The story of the night was undoubtedly Kamorah Asselin. Finding the back of the net early and often, Asselin notched a staggering 4 goals, accounting for half of the Mustangs' total points. Her scoring prowess was matched by her vision on the field, as she also contributed an assist to the winning effort.
She wasn't alone in the scoring column, however. The Lady Mustangs displayed impressive depth and chemistry:

Kameryn Tate: A force in the midfield and final third, Tate secured a brace with 2 goals and proved to be the ultimate playmaker with 2 assists.

Jazmynn Salinas: Contributed 1 goal to keep the momentum firmly in Travis’s favor.

Keritza Barreto: Rounded out the scoring with 1 goal, sealing the dominant performance.

While Bonham managed to break through for two scores, the Travis defense remained composed, stifling several Bulldog runs and transitioning quickly back into the attack.

A Historic Milestone

Beyond the lopsided scoreline, the evening held significant weight for the Travis Science Academy athletic program. Hosting their first-ever home game at the stadium provided a true "home-field advantage" that the Lady Mustangs clearly embraced. Winning the inaugural match sets a high bar for the remainder of the season and establishes the stadium as a formidable place for visiting teams to play.

Looking Ahead

The Lady Mustangs (1-0) won’t have much time to celebrate their historic win as they prepare for their next challenge.

Next Match: > Opponent: Copperas Cove Junior High
