TEMPLE, TX — It was a high-octane battle of attrition at Brad Dusek Field on Thursday evening as the Travis Science Academy Lady Mustangs and the Lamar Middle School Lady Bearcats played to a thrilling 4-4 draw.
In a unique cross-town clash that combined both 7th and 8th-grade rosters, the fans on the Lamar campus were treated to an offensive showcase that remained undecided until the final whistle.
The Kamorah Asselin Show
While the match was a collective effort, the story of the night for the Lady Mustangs was undoubtedly Kamorah Asselin. In a stunning individual performance, Asselin accounted for the entirety of the Travis scoring output, netting all four goals for her side.
Whether it was breaking through the Bearcat defensive line or clinical finishing in the box, Asselin proved to be a persistent thorn in Lamar’s side. Her ability to find the back of the net consistently kept the Lady Mustangs in the hunt every time the Lady Bearcats threatened to pull away.
A Hard-Fought Deadlock
The Lady Bearcats utilized their home-field advantage effectively, matching Travis’s offensive firepower strike for strike. The hybrid nature of the game allowed for various line-up rotations, showcasing the depth and future talent of both middle school programs. By the end of the regulation period, neither side could find the decisive fifth goal, leaving the scoreboard balanced at 4-4 in a testament to the competitive spirit of both squads.
