MCGREGOR — The Travis Science Academy 8th grade "A" volleyball team kicked off their season Thursday night on the road against River Valley Middle School. Despite a gritty effort from the Lady Mustangs, the home-standing Lady Panthers proved too strong, taking the match in straight sets, 25-16, 25-18.

Travis showed flashes of strong play throughout both games, powered by energetic play at the net and behind the service line. Akylah Howard led the charge for the Lady Mustangs, pacing the offense with a team-high 3 aces alongside a clean kill at the net. Jasmine Gray provided additional spark, landing a service ace to keep the pressure on River Valley.

While the Lady Panthers were able to capitalize on key runs to secure both set wins, the Lady Mustangs gained valuable early-season experience as they start to find their rhythm on the court.
Travis won't have to wait long for a chance at redemption. The Lady Mustangs will make their home debut at Mustang Gym on Thursday, September 3, when they host crosstown rival Lamar Middle School. First serve for the 8th grade "A" match is scheduled for 8:00 PM.
