TEMPLE — The Travis Science Academy 8th Grade A volleyball team put on a show in front of their home crowd Thursday night, delivering a sharp, dominant performance to sweep the rival Lamar Lady Bearcats (25-16, 25-14) at Mustang Gym.

From the opening serve, Travis dictated the tempo with aggressive service work and reliable net play. The Lady Mustangs set the tone in set one, using crisp communication and a handful of timely aces to pull away early for a 25-16 win. They carried that momentum straight into the second frame, leaning on their firepower at the net to seal the match 25-14 and earn their first win of the young season.

The Lady Mustangs' offense was anchored by strong all-around performances across the rotation:

Akylah Howard: Controlled the net and the service line, pacing the squad with 5 kills and 2 aces.

Norah Ice: Provided steady pressure throughout the night, finishing with 3 aces and 1 kill.

Kayla Dekuze: Kept Lamar's defense off-balance with high-velocity serves, landing 3 aces.

With the bounce-back victory, the Lady Mustangs improve to 1-1 overall. They will look to build a winning streak right back at Mustang Gym on Thursday, September 10, when they host S.C. Lee Junior High. First serve is scheduled for 8:00 PM.
