TEMPLE, Texas — The Travis Science Academy Lady Mustang 7th Grade B volleyball team suffered their first defeat of the season Thursday evening, falling in a hard-fought three-set battle to Copperas Cove SC Lee Junior High at Mustang Gym.

SC Lee took the opening set 25-11, seizing early momentum with relentless serving. Travis refused to go quietly, roaring back in the second set behind sharper communication and steady baseline play. The Lady Mustangs controlled the tempo to claim a 25-20 victory and force a deciding third frame. SC Lee ultimately outlasted Travis in the final sprint, taking the set 15-10 to seal the match.

Despite the setback, Travis featured stellar individual performances from the service line. Gabrielle Lyons set the tone for the Lady Mustangs, racking up a team-high 12 successful serves and an ace to anchor the defense. Teammates Anna Wright and Ranesme Garza provided crucial momentum shifts of their own, each landing 3 serves made alongside 1 ace.

With the loss, the Lady Mustangs move to 2-1 on the season.

Travis will look to bounce back on Thursday, September 17, when they hit the road to face off against North Belton Middle School. First serve is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
