TEMPLE, Texas — Protecting their home court with authority, the Travis Science Academy Lady Mustang 8th Grade A volleyball team swept Copperas Cove SC Lee Junior High in straight sets on Thursday evening at Mustang Gym, securing a 25-13, 25-18 victory.

The Lady Mustangs established control early in the opening set, leaning on sharp serving and a balanced offensive attack. Kayla Deluze put on a standout performance, dominating behind the service line and at the net with 16 made serves, 3 aces, and 5 kills to set the tone for Travis.

SC Lee fought back in the second set, but the Lady Mustangs' front row proved too much to handle. Madison Locket matched the high-powered attack with 5 kills of her own alongside 3 made serves, while Akylah Howard chipped in 3 kills and 5 made serves to shut down any chance of a Copperas Cove comeback.

With the dominant home win, Travis improves to 2-1 on the season.

The Lady Mustangs will look to build on their momentum when they return to action on Thursday, September 17, taking to the road to face North Belton Middle School. First serve is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
