BELTON, Texas — In a hard-fought road clash Thursday night, the Travis Science Academy 7th Grade B Lady Mustang volleyball team showcased impressive resilience, bouncing back from a tough opening frame to force a deciding third set before ultimately falling to Belton Middle School in a 9-25, 25-15, 15-10 thriller.

The opening set proved difficult for the Lady Mustangs, as Belton’s offense controlled the pace early to take a 1-0 match lead with a 25-9 decision.

Refusing to back down, Travis completely flipped the momentum in set two. Driven by sharp serving and crisp defensive execution, the Lady Mustangs stormed past Belton 25-15 to level the match and force a high-stakes third set. Despite a determined effort in the tiebreaker, Belton managed to push ahead late to secure the set 15-10 and claim the home victory.

With the outcome, the Lady Mustangs drop to 1-4 on the season, but Thursday's performance highlighted plenty of individual stars who delivered big plays under pressure.

Gabrielle Lyons put together a dominant, multi-category performance to lead the squad, anchoring the rotation with 17 completed serves, 7 service aces, and 6 passes made. In the backcourt, Parker Carnathan proved vital to the team's rally, matching Lyons with 6 passes made to keep offensive opportunities alive.
