BELTON, Texas — The Travis Science Academy Lady Mustang 7th Grade "A" volleyball team went the distance on Thursday evening, dropping a heart-breaker to Belton Middle School in a tight three-set battle on the road.

Despite a strong response after dropping the opening set, Travis ultimately fell short by scores of 18-25, 25-20, and 19-17 in an edge-of-your-seat finish. With the loss, the Lady Mustangs move to 2-3 on the season.

Travis showed grit after a tough opening frame, bouncing back with a decisive 25-20 win in the second set to force a deciding third game. The final frame proved to be a back-and-forth duel, with Belton barely edging out the Lady Mustangs in extra points, 19-17.

Standout Performances

Several key players turned in standout performances for Travis throughout the night:

Katalina Schittler: Anchored the team with an exceptional all-around night, recording 18 passes made, 14 serves made, 6 aces, and 1 kill.
Tatiana Campbell: Provided a major spark on both ends of the floor, tallying 12 passes made, 5 serves made, 3 aces, and a team-high 3 kills.
Aimee Membreno: Contributed solid consistency, finishing with 8 passes made, 6 serves made, 1 ace, and 1 kill.
Adrienne Woods: Added steady play, contributing 8 passes made, 4 serves made, 1 ace, and 1 kill.

Looking Ahead

The Lady Mustangs will look to bounce back when they return home to Mustang Gym on October 1. Travis is set to host Midway Middle School, with action scheduled to start at 7:00 PM.
