ROCKDALE, Texas — The Travis Science Academy Lady Mustang 7th Grade A volleyball team battled through three competitive matches at the Rockdale Tournament on Saturday, finishing with a 2-1 record on the day to capture the Consolation Bracket championship.

After dropping a tough, three-set opening match to Giddings, the Lady Mustangs rebounded with back-to-back victories over Lamar and Thorndale to seal the bracket title.

Tournament Standout Performers

Across three matches, three Lady Mustangs consistently led the charge on both defense and offense:
Tatiana Campbell: Powered the backline and net play, totaling 49 passes made, 7 kills, 19 serves made, and 3 aces over the course of the tournament.

Carmen Bonds: Delivered an all-around presence in every rotation, finishing the tournament with 36 passes made, 4 kills, 12 serves made, 3 aces, and 2 blocks.

Aimee Membreno: Provided steady defensive work and clutch serving across two key matches, racking up 26 passes made, 10 serves made, and 2 aces.

Match Breakdown

Game 1: Giddings def. Travis (25-11, 18-25, 15-7)

The Lady Mustangs opened tournament play in a hard-fought, three-set battle against Giddings. After dropping the opening frame, Travis displayed great resolve by taking the second set 25-18 before falling short in the tiebreaker.

Travis bounced back in another three-set thriller against Lamar. The Lady Mustangs took a tight opening set 25-22, and after Lamar leveled the match in set two, Travis dominated the decisive third set 15-6 to earn their first win of the day.
