LAKE BELTON — In a game that came down to the absolute final second and a fraction of an inch, the Travis Science Academy 8th Grade "A" Football team preserved their perfect season on Tuesday evening, battling past North Belton Middle School 19-18 at Broncho Stadium on the campus of Lake Belton High School.

The victory keeps the Mustangs spotless on the year, improving their overall record to 4-0.

Offense Delivers, Defense Holds the Line

Travis set the tone early behind dynamic offensive playmaker Jaliel Gates, who found the end zone twice on the night to pace the Mustangs' scoring attack. Gates’ big-play ability proved crucial in a tight, physical showdown where every yard was contested.

On the other side of the ball, defensive standout Wayne Smith turned in a brilliant performance. Smith anchoring the Travis defensive front came up with timely stops to stymie North Belton's momentum and keep the Mustangs ahead during high-stakes possessions late in the contest.

Dramatic Finish at the Uprights

Despite Travis holding a narrow 19-18 edge in the closing minutes, North Belton drove late into Mustang territory to set up a game-winning field goal attempt as time expired.

With both sidelines on their feet and the clock running out, the kick flew toward the uprights—only to crash loudly off the goalpost. The ball bounced away harmlessly as time expired, sealing the dramatic one-point victory for Travis Science Academy and igniting a celebratory rush on the Mustang sideline.
