TEMPLE, Texas — The Travis Science Academy 7th grade A volleyball team put up a fierce fight on Thursday evening at Mustang Gym, taking Midway Middle School to three competitive sets before dropping a hard-fought decision, 18-25, 25-23, 15-8.
Travis established control early in the opening frame, using sharp communication and clean execution to take the first set 25-18. Midway responded in set two, battling through tight rallies to narrowly pull out a 25-23 victory and force a deciding third set. In the tiebreaker, Midway carried that momentum forward, securing a 15-8 win to claim the match.
Despite the setback, which moved Travis to 4-5 on the season, several Lady Mustangs delivered standout individual performances across the court:
Katalina Schittler anchored the backline, guiding the defense with a team-high 25 passes made to go along with 7 serves made, 2 aces, a kill, and a block.
Tatiana Campbell provided high-energy scoring across all phases, recording 10 passes made, 4 kills, 7 serves made, and 3 aces.
Carmen Bonds turned in a well-rounded stat line, recording 9 passes made, 6 serves made, an ace, and a kill.
Eliza Foreman made key contributions at the net and from the baseline, finishing with 4 passes made, 6 serves made, a kill, and a block.
The Lady Mustangs will look to bounce back when they return to action on October 8. Travis will remain at home at Mustang Gym to host the Bonham Middle School Lady Bulldogs, with first serve scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
