HEWITT – The elite of Central Texas track and field converged on Panther Stadium on Tuesday, April 7, for the Cen-Tex District Track & Field Championships. Featuring the top four finishers from last week’s divisional qualifiers, the meet was a true "best of the best" showdown.
The Travis Science Academy Lady Mustang 8th Grade team capped off their 2026 season with a strong showing, earning a 5th place finish in the overall team standings with 44 points. In a highly competitive field, River Valley took the top spot with 141.50 points, followed by North Belton in 2nd with 132.
Top Performers and Medalists
The Lady Mustangs left their mark on the podium, securing two gold medals and a bronze against the toughest competition in the region.
Kameryn Tate proved to be the fastest girl in the district, blazing past the competition to take 1st Place in the 100 meters with a time of 13.27. Tate also showed her versatility in the field events, earning a bronze medal with a 3rd Place finish in the Triple Jump, soaring to a distance of 31’9 ¾.
Alalade Akiode dominated the throwing ring, claiming the 1st Place title in the Discus. Her winning toss of 81’7 secured her spot as a District Champion.
